Volunteer

Volunteering with the GCDF is a great way to be involved in one of Canada's premiere dance venues. Volunteering is fun and rewarding and gives you great benefits like tickets to shows. Volunteers con commit to one or several opportunities over the weekend. We welcome volunteers of all ages and most opportunities can be counted toward the mandatory 40 hours for secondary school students.

Below is a list of opportunities available during the Festival from Thursday June 2 – Sunday June 5, 2011. Following the schedule is a description of what each position entails. Spots fill quickly and are available on a first-come first-served basis.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Daniel Poulin at volunteer.gcdf[at]gmail.com

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Festival Greeter
This is one of the most important volunteer positions, as you become the face of the Festival. You will be greeting patrons at one of our outdoor events, handing out programs, directing people to performance locations and most importantly, collecting donations. We expect all greeters to help with clean-up at the end of the performances.

Production Assistant
Production Assistants help the Sound Technician and Stage Manager at our outdoor events with setting up, moving and striking technical equipment. No experience is necessary, although being able to lift heavy objects is an asset.

Reception Server
Our opening night Gala is a time of celebration where patrons, sponsors and artists mingle in the beautiful Canada Company Hall at the River Run Centre. Reception servers circulate through the Hall with plates of delicious hors-d'ouevres created by Magnolia Catering. Servers are expected to dress in black bottoms and white top, be polite and courteous and help with clean-up at the end of the Gala.

Artist Party Event Helper
The Artist Party is a way for artists and Festival staff and volunteers to connect and have fun! We're looking for a small team of people to help set-up a food table and bar, act as bartenders, monitor the event and help clean-up at the end of the party. All volunteers need to be 19+ and SmartServe trained if they are bartending.
