Workshops in Schools

Welcome to the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival’s eighth year programming dance performances and workshops for children from Kindergarten to Grade 12!

The GCDF offers diverse, innovative and curriculum-based programming with an impressive history of bringing dance to over 18,000 students in the last eight years. The GCDF has a wide knowledge of dance artists from the region as well as from across Canada.

What Can We Do For Your School?
There are two opportunities throughout the year to have contemporary dance come to your students:

1. During the Festival (March 31 and June 3-6, 2010)
   We can provide workshops with Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival artists.

   • Dancers from the Chimera Project - Available March 31, 2010
   • Master dancer Menaka Thakkar - Available June 2 or 4, 2010
   • Andrea Nann from Dreamwalker Dance Company - Available June 2, 2010


2. Throughout the year
   We can provide workshops with the Co-Artistic Directors of the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival, Janet Johnson and Catrina von Radecki.

Program and Cost
Your school can book either a full-day or a half-day of workshops:

• Full Day Workshop Package | $400
  Includes four to six workshops.


• Half Day Workshop package | $200
  Includes two one-hour workshops.


• There is a maximum of 40 students allowable per workshop (smaller class sizes are preferable).

Technical Requirements
We require access to a gym with sound equipment and volunteer and/or teacher assistance.
