The Program
In The Street Performance 12:00 - 1:15 pm | St. George's Square
The day begins at the GCDF's fun and eclectic In The Street, featuring performances of four dynamic works by emerging choreographers in downtown Guelph.
Workshop 1:30 - 3:00 pm | Canada Company Hall, River Run Centre
Pulse & Puppet is a dance company of young artists creating athletic contemporary choreography. The choreographer and dancers will be leading a workshop that introduces you to partnering through exercises in lifting and exchanging weight. You will then get the chance to apply these skills while learning some of the company’s repertoire. This repertoire is based on the theme of being ‘boxed in’ and fighting for your independence. It is also included in Infractions – the choreography the company is presenting at the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival On The Stage B series. Come dance with us!
The workshop will be followed by a Talkback Session with the artist, allowing for immediate dialogue and educational insights into their work and study of contemporary dance.
Backstage Tour 3:00 - 3:15 pm | River Run Centre
Participants will then be given a tour of the backstage and inner workings of the theatres at the River Run Centre.
On The Stage A Dress Rehearsal 3:15 - 5:00 pm | Co-operators Hall, River Run Centre
To close the afternoon’s events participants are invited to be special guests at the GCDF's On The Stage A dress rehearsal. Here they will observe all the nuances and magic of an intimate theatre experience.
